COVID-19 Updated Vaccine Boosters Approved for Children Ages 5-11

On October 12, 2022, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) expanded the use of the bivalent COVID-19 vaccines to children ages 5 through 11 years. Here are the details of the authorization
  • The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 bivalent vaccine booster is authorized for children 5-11 years of age and can be administered at least two months following completion of primary or booster vaccination
  • The Moderna COVID-19 bivalent vaccine booster is authorized for children 6-17 years of age and can be administered at least two months following completion of primary or booster vaccination
  • The dosage for both vaccine boosters is a single dose

COVID-19 vaccines and boosters remain free, without cost-sharing, to anyone regardless of age who wants to receive the shot.
